What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a gentle treatment where very fine needles are placed into specific points on your pet’s body. These points help stimulate the body’s natural healing responses.

It works by encouraging the release of natural pain-relieving chemicals, improving blood flow, and reducing inflammation.

This can help ease discomfort, support healing, and improve mobility.

In veterinary medicine, it’s often used alongside conventional treatments, particularly for conditions like arthritis, back pain, recovery after surgery, and soft tissue injuries.

Just like in humans, it can also help with a range of other issues, from respiratory problems and skin issues, to digestive problems and anxiety.

Pets really enjoy their acupuncture sessions. The needles are extremely fine, and many animals become relaxed during treatment, sometimes even sleepy.

The aim is always to improve your pet’s comfort, movement, and overall quality of life in a calm and gentle way.

Pet Acupuncture

Ongoing Sessions

20-30 mins

After the first few sessions, treatment intervals are usually reduced depending on your pet’s response and ongoing needs. Some pets benefit from regular maintenance sessions, while others may only need occasional top-up treatments.

Follow-up Sessions

20-30 mins

Follow-up sessions are usually recommended at weekly intervals for the first 4 weeks. This helps build the initial response to treatment and gives me the chance to monitor progress closely.

Initial Acupuncture Session

Discussion, clinical examination, treatment

45-60 mins

The first appointment includes a full consultation, clinical examination, and acupuncture treatment. This allows me to assess your pet’s overall health, understand their symptoms and medical history, and create a treatment plan tailored to their individual needs.
